Disorientation: Endless Summer

Last August 31, 2017, the Phi Lambda Delta together with Phi Kappa Mu welcomed Class 2022 through their annual freshman acquaintance party, Disorientation. This year’s theme was a laid-back boho beach party with the catchy tagline of “Endless fun, endless sun, endless summer!” Held at Patio de Manila, Malate, the party was a smashing success with exciting games, cool raffle prizes, good food, and free-flowing drinks. ​

Disorientation is under the office of the Sister Prior, Ana Beatrice Constantino, Ф2016. This year, the event was headed by sis Aurora Nakpil, Ф2017 and brod David Serrano, Ф2017A. Finance heads were sis Pamela Danielle Lanuza, Ф2017 and brod Safrollah Guinal, Ф2017A while Logistics was headed by sis Gabrielle Flores, Ф2017 and brod Jian Kenzo Leal, Ф2017A. The program hosts were sis Annemarie Pamela Torga, Ф2017 and brod Alfonso Rafael Abaya, Ф2017A.

The event was sponsored by the following companies: co-presentors Tanduay and Swish; partners Barista's Best Ice Cold Coffee, The Ripple, and Pascual Creamy Delight Yogurt; sponsors Trizon Medical Solutions, FWD, Social Media Project; and media partners Magic 89.9, wheninmanila.com, and clickthecity.com. Music hits were provided by DJ Marco Molina.

Doors opened at 7PM and the freshmen were treated to a viewing of the newest Phi Lambda Delta and Phi Kappa Mu audio-visual presentations. Brods, sisses, and members of class 2022 were then grouped into pink, blue, white, and yellow teams with the help of glow-stick bracelets.

The first game was 4 Pics 1 Word wherein the 4 pictures pertaining to 1 word would be flashed on screen and team representatives had to guess what the word was. To make things more interesting, before taking a guess, the representative would have to take 2 shots of Tanduay Rum.  The next game was a Bring Me Shot Relay wherein groups had to bring someone that fit certain criteria to the stage. Someone with a tan line, a Henna tattoo, a beach bod, and someone's Phi crush all took a shot of Cobra that night. The third and last game of the night was called Rain drop drop top flip cup, which is basically Flip Cup wherein players had to assemble and disassemble a stack of cups at lightning speed.

The overall winner of the night was the Blue Team. But there were lots of food, drink, and fun for everyone.

The night wasn't over after those three games, as there were all-night games of beer pong and giant beer pong. The photobooth by 6 Smiles was also up and running, giving away on-the-spot printed photo magnets of the photobooth pictures. Raffle prize winners were announced at random: Allen Lichauco, Joram Vivo, and Patricia Lota of class 2022 walked away with Netter’s Atlas of Human Anatomy, a Timberland watch, and a Littman II stethoscope, respectively. And of course, drinks went all around! Thanks to the ever-present, very diligent shot patrol. 

All in all, this year’s Disorientation: Endless Summer! was a blast. It was a great way to start the year, meet the freshmen, spend some detox-time with brods and sisses, and show class 2022 that the Phi Lambda Delta and the Phi Kappa Mu not only study hard, but party hard as well.
